A friend mentioned to me that it was great, so I had to check it out and now my kids are hooked. Complete with a great flying fox, bucket swing that will fit four kids comfortably on it, as well as a fabulous fortress with spiral slippery slide, bridges, plenty of things to climb on, fireman’s pole and lots more.

There are a few picnic tables and toilets nearby, with plenty of grass to have a picnic.

Finally our playgrounds are getting a makeover!

It seems that each year now Play School and Dorothy the Dinosaur pay us a visit.

So time to get excited – Dorothy the Dinosaur’s Rockin’ Christmas Show is coming to Mittagong RSL on 13 December 2011.

Dorothy and friends will meet Santa Claus in this festive show with all our favourite Christmas songs.

The playground used to be deserted in the middle of the day as the equipment was too hot to use and is now thriving again!

Huge thanks to Wingecarribee Council – money well spent (this time!).

According to my sources, the one in Bowral will stricly be a gym with no classes, but the one in Mittagong will have Les Mills classes on offer.

There’s no excuses now people – get moving!

I am all for extended gym hours as the current local gyms are limited, but I can’t see too many people in the Southern Highlands wanting that midnight fix. But I could be wrong.

Either way, apparently it is on its way. No idea on the details, but it is listed on Anytime Fitness’ website.

Time to think healthy all day….. and night!

It has been a long one for most, full of bad wind storms, freezing cold and lots of nasty illnesses being shared around.

But it wasn’t all bad – we had some gorgeous warm weather too, confusing our gardens into thinking spring had arrived early.

Built during the early Victorian period, its architecture is an excellent example of a highly intact two storey early Colonial Georgian Inn. You can’t miss it as you exit the freeway into the Southern Highlands.

After a major restoration, it recently opened back up with a restaurant and accommodation. We have been wanting to eat there since …… and now we have!

I started with the vodka and lime cured salmon with enoki mushrooms, blue swimmer crab and cucumber – a really fresh entree with lots of yummy flavours. I didn’t really notice the flavour of the crab, but it didn’t matter as it was a great way to start a meal.

My husband tried the twice baked goat cheese soufflé with fennel and hazelnut, which had lots of nice flavours too.

For my main meal, I was tempted by the Mittagong tunnel mushroom risotto with truffle oil. It was a simple, but hearty dish to fill me up for a winter’s evening. My husband chose the 12 hour braised shoulder of lamb with creamed celeriac and mustard fruits. The meat was cooked to perfection, but the dish itself was lacking a few flavours.

While I wouldn’t put the food into the outstanding category, it was certainly lovely and we enjoyed all of our dishes. It is fully licensed so no BYO, but the wine list seems reasonable and a good selection.

You can even pop in for a drink on the balcony without dining as well, so plenty of options available.

The sun is shining, the blossoms have blossomed, the daffodils are out in full force and the weather is just glorious.

Before we know it the Tulip Time festival will be on in Bowral.

There’s no better time to come and visit!
